Beau Ramsey threw seven shutout innings and the Riverhawks scored four runs in the third inning to cruise past Lane 6-2 on the road Wednesday. The conference baseball victory improved UCC to 12-4 overall in what turned into a comfortable road win after a big middle-innings surge.
The game remained scoreless through two innings before the Riverhawks broke it open with a four-run third inning that put Lane in an early hole. Shiloh Wilson drove in two runs during the rally, while Trevor Ratliff and Noah Kiley each contributed RBI hits. UCC added single runs in the fourth and ninth innings to seal the victory.
Ramsey dominated on the mound for the Riverhawks, allowing just two hits over seven scoreless frames while walking two and striking out one. The junior right-hander kept Lane's hitters off balance all afternoon before turning the ball over to the bullpen. Jayden Lucas and Joey Garboden combined for two scoreless innings in relief.
Offensively, Caden Kuhnert led the way by going 2-for-2 with two runs scored, while Wilson finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Tauj Flora added two hits. For Lane, Jalen Riddle collected two hits and an RBI in the losing effort.
The conference win puts the Riverhawks in strong position as they continue league play. UCC will look to build on this solid road performance when they return to action this weekend.
