South Umpqua Lancers Boys Soccer 3-3 Cottage Grove

South Umpqua's boys soccer team left Cottage Grove with a hard-earned point Thursday, battling to a 3-3 draw against the Lions in 4A-4 Sky-Em League action. The Myrtle Creek, Oregon, program entered the road contest at 5-8-4 on the season and came away with a result that pushes them to 5-8-5 overall and 3-5 in league play. With both sides trading three goals apiece, the Rams showed enough fight to avoid a defeat in what turned into an open, back-and-forth contest at Cottage Grove. The draw is a mixed result for South Umpqua. It keeps them from sliding further in the league standings, but points left on the board still sting late in the fall schedule. The Rams will need a strong finish to close the regular season on a positive note. South Umpqua returns home to Myrtle Creek next, where the familiar surroundings could provide a boost as the team looks to finish the year with momentum.
