Sutherlin Bulldogs Football 7-35 Vale

Vale handed Sutherlin its first loss of the season Friday night, defeating the Bulldogs 35-7 in a non-league football matchup played in Sutherlin, Oregon. The loss drops the Far West League (3A) squad to 4-1 on the year after a strong start to the fall campaign.

The Bulldogs had entered the contest riding a perfect 4-0 record, making them one of the more promising teams in their classification heading into the game. Vale proved to be a difficult test, pulling away for a commanding 28-point victory that exposed some areas Sutherlin will need to sharpen as league play intensifies.

Sutherlin managed a lone score on the night, keeping the fight alive but unable to slow a Vale offense that found consistent success throughout the evening. The final margin was a tough pill to swallow for a Bulldogs squad that had looked sharp in its previous four outings.

Sutherlin will look to bounce back next week and return its focus to Far West League competition.
