South Umpqua Lancers Football 16-21 North Bend

The South Umpqua Lancers dropped a tough one Friday night, falling to North Bend 21-16 in a game that was closer than the final score might suggest. The Lancers battled hard throughout, keeping themselves in striking distance until the final whistle, but ultimately couldn't find the plays they needed to pull ahead when it mattered most.

South Umpqua showed some real fight in this one. A 16-point output is nothing to be ashamed of, and the Lancers clearly had the offense moving at times. But North Bend made enough key plays on both sides of the ball to hold on for the five-point victory and hand the Lancers a frustrating defeat on the road.

The loss drops South Umpqua to 2-3 on the season, putting them at the midpoint of their schedule with some ground to make up. The Lancers have the talent to turn things around, and with a few adjustments, there's no reason this team can't rattle off some wins down the stretch. We'll see how they respond next week.
