A clutch performance in the late innings lifted South Umpqua to a narrow 3-2 baseball victory at home Saturday afternoon. The Lancers needed every run in what turned into a pitcher's duel against their non-league opponent.

South Umpqua's offense managed just enough production to support solid pitching that kept the game within reach throughout. The tight contest showcased the competitive balance that has defined much of the Lancers' early season play.

The win brings South Umpqua to 3-4 overall as the team continues to find its rhythm in the 2026 spring campaign. After dropping four of their first five games, the Lancers have now won two of their last three outings, suggesting the squad may be turning a corner.

Saturday's victory demonstrates the team's ability to execute in close games, a skill that will prove valuable as league play intensifies. South Umpqua will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next challenge on the diamond.
