Sutherlin Bulldogs Football 49-0 Elmira

Sutherlin's football team left no doubt Friday night, rolling past visiting Elmira 49-0 in a non-league contest at home in Sutherlin, Oregon. The Bulldogs, who compete in the Far West League (3A), turned in a commanding performance from wire to wire, shutting out the Eagles completely in what amounted to a statement win to open their home schedule. The 49-point margin reflects a Sutherlin squad that appears to have carried real momentum out of last week's season opener. With the victory, the Bulldogs improve to 2-0 on the young season, giving head coach and staff plenty of reason for optimism as league play approaches. Keeping an opponent scoreless is never a small accomplishment at any level of high school football, and Elmira had no answers for the Sutherlin defense on either side of the ball. The Bulldogs will look to carry this energy into next week as they continue building toward Far West League competition.
