Beau Ramsey dominated the mound for seven scoreless innings as the UCC Riverhawks shutout Clark 5-0 on the road Wednesday in non-conference baseball action.
Ramsey was nearly untouchable, scattering six hits while striking out eight batters and walking just one. The sophomore right-hander kept Clark hitters off balance all afternoon, never allowing a runner past second base.
The Riverhawks broke through in the second inning when catcher Jeremiah Robbins drove in the game's first run. UCC stayed patient at the plate until exploding for three runs in the sixth inning to put the game away. Robbins finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while first baseman Jaxon Marble added two RBIs despite managing just one hit.
Taylor Davis contributed an RBI single as part of UCC's nine-hit attack against Clark starter Garrett Maunu, who pitched well in a losing effort with five strikeouts over six innings.
Camden Hartsell closed out the final two innings for the Riverhawks, striking out two while allowing just one hit to preserve the shutout.
The victory improves UCC to 25-17 overall as the regular season winds down. With strong pitching performances like Ramsey's, the Riverhawks are building momentum heading into the final stretch of games before postseason play begins.
