A three-run ninth inning rally came up just short as the UCC Riverhawks dropped an 8-7 heartbreaker to Edmonds on Wednesday, falling victim to late-game dramatics that saw both teams score in the final frame.

The Riverhawks entered the ninth trailing 6-4 but mounted an impressive comeback behind Taylor Davis, who delivered a clutch three-RBI performance to tie the game at 7-7. However, Edmonds answered immediately in the bottom half, pushing across two runs to steal the non-conference victory.

Catcher Jeremiah Robbins led UCC's offensive charge, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Jackson Thomsen also collected three hits. Tristan Schaefer and Davis each crossed the plate twice in the losing effort.

The Riverhawks' pitching staff delivered a strong performance through eight innings, with starter Tristan Ledbetter and reliever Bayden Morris combining for eight scoreless frames. But closer Josh Jackson struggled in the ninth, walking three batters in just one-third of an inning to set up Edmonds' game-winning rally.

Edmonds' Dylan Jacobs proved to be the difference-maker, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs to pace the home team's attack.

The loss drops UCC to 26-17 overall as they continue their challenging road stretch. The Riverhawks will look to bounce back and even their record at 27-17 when they return to action.
