Tristan Schaefer went 3-for-3 with a walk and scored a run, but the Riverhawks couldn't overcome early pitching struggles in a 13-3 baseball loss at Edmonds on Thursday.
UCC (26-19) briefly held pace with the hosts through one inning, tied 2-2 after Schaefer's hot start helped the Riverhawks plate two early runs. But Edmonds broke the game open with a five-run second inning and added three more in the third to build a commanding 10-2 lead.
Starting pitcher Tyler Miller struggled early, surrendering seven hits in just two innings before giving way to Camden Hartsell. Hartsell provided stability over the next 4.2 frames, striking out four while allowing eight hits.
Offensively, the Riverhawks managed just six hits beyond Schaefer's perfect afternoon. Jackson Thomsen contributed an RBI single, while Taylor Davis and Trevor Ratliff each drove in runs despite going hitless.
Edmonds shortstop Noah Figuered matched Schaefer's offensive output, going 3-for-3 with two walks and three runs scored to pace the hosts' 15-hit attack. Winning pitcher Levi Arnold limited UCC to six hits over 6.1 innings.
The non-conference setback snaps recent momentum for the Riverhawks as they approach the final stretch of their season. UCC will look to regroup and refocus on upcoming conference play, where postseason positioning remains within reach.
