Lane's pitching staff shut down the Riverhawks for eight innings before UCC finally broke through in the ninth, but it wasn't nearly enough as the visiting Titans claimed a 6-1 conference victory Thursday at home.

Starting pitcher Torsten Hersom set the tone for Lane, working 5.2 scoreless innings while striking out six Riverhawks batters. The baseball game remained scoreless through four innings before Lane's offense came alive, plating single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, then breaking it open with three runs in the seventh.

UCC managed 10 hits in the loss, with shortstop Taylor Davis leading the way at 2-for-4 with the team's lone run scored in the ninth inning. Second baseman Jackson Thomsen also collected two hits, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Starting pitcher Tristan Ledbetter kept the Riverhawks competitive early, tossing six innings and allowing just five hits, but Lane's patient approach at the plate eventually paid dividends.

For Lane, designated hitter Cody Roletto paced the offense with a 3-for-5 performance, crossing the plate twice. The Titans worked seven walks as a team, constantly pressuring UCC's pitching staff throughout the contest.

The loss drops UCC to 25-15 overall as conference play continues to heat up. The Riverhawks will need to regroup quickly with more crucial league games ahead that could determine playoff positioning.
