With two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Jaxon Marble delivered the clutch hit that sent the UCC Riverhawks home with a dramatic 1-0 baseball victory over Mt Hood on Thursday afternoon.

The conference showdown remained scoreless through seven innings before Trevor Ratliff sparked the winning rally with a leadoff single in the eighth. After advancing into scoring position, Ratliff crossed home on Marble's RBI hit to break the deadlock and give the Riverhawks their 11th win of the season.

Pitcher Ty Hellenthal was nothing short of spectacular for UCC, going the distance with a complete-game shutout. The right-hander allowed just three hits over eight innings while walking only one batter and striking out two. His efficient performance kept Mt Hood's offense completely off balance throughout the afternoon.

Offensively, Ratliff led the way with a 2-for-4 performance, scoring the game's only run. Marble finished 1-for-2 with two walks and the game-winning RBI. Shiloh Wilson, Noah Kiley, Triston Wallace, and Ben Allen each contributed one hit in the low-scoring affair.

Mt Hood's pitching staff kept pace for most of the game, with starter Donavan Jackson and reliever Max Green combining to hold UCC scoreless through seven innings. Diego Richards, Kyle Slater, and Jonathan Wright each managed one hit for the visiting team.

The victory improves UCC's overall record to 11-4 as conference play continues to heat up in the weeks ahead.
