A seventh-inning explosion doomed the UCC Riverhawks in a 7-1 conference baseball loss at Clackamas on Friday, dropping their overall record to 21-12.
The Riverhawks managed just one run despite collecting six hits, struggling with runners in scoring position throughout the afternoon. Jackson Thomsen provided the lone bright spot offensively, scoring UCC's only run in the sixth inning after drawing a walk.
Shiloh Wilson led the Riverhawks at the plate, going 2-for-3 from the leadoff spot, while Taylor Davis, Caden Kuhnert, and Tristan Schaefer each contributed singles. However, the offense couldn't capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving multiple runners stranded.
Starting pitcher Tristan Ledbetter kept UCC competitive through six innings, allowing just two early runs while scattering five hits. The freshman walked five batters but managed to limit damage until the seventh inning collapse that saw Clackamas plate five runs to break the game open.
Relievers Tyler Miller and Aidan Birchard struggled to contain the Clackamas offense during the decisive seventh frame, as the Cougars sent 10 batters to the plate.
Clackamas starter Cole Stofflet dominated the Riverhawks lineup, working six shutout innings while allowing just four hits. Luke Kovac and Sam Bayliss each collected two hits for the Cougars.
The conference loss puts pressure on UCC to bounce back quickly as they continue their push toward postseason positioning with the regular season winding down.
