South Umpqua defeated North 5-1 in non-league softball action Friday at home in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. The Lancers, who compete in the Far West League (3A), controlled the contest throughout against their visiting opponents.

The victory improved South Umpqua's stellar record to 25-1 overall while maintaining their perfect 15-0 conference mark. The Lancers have been nearly unstoppable this spring, with Friday's four-run margin of victory representing another solid performance in what has been a dominant campaign.

South Umpqua's offense provided enough support early and often, building a comfortable lead that their pitching staff protected effectively. North managed just one run against the Lancers' defensive effort, unable to mount any serious threats in the later innings.

With the regular season winding down, South Umpqua continues to position itself well for the postseason. The Lancers will look to maintain their momentum as they prepare for the final stretch of games before league tournament play begins.
