Lower Columbia's explosive offense proved too much for the Riverhawks to handle, as the Red Devils rolled to a 13-1 conference softball victory on Thursday.
The Red Devils wasted little time taking control, plating two runs in the first inning before breaking the game open with a five-run second frame. Lower Columbia's balanced attack was led by third baseman Elysa Nash, who went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBIs, while second baseman Gabi Silveria added three hits and three RBIs of her own.
UCC managed to answer briefly in the third inning when Jordan McArthur scored the Riverhawks' lone run, driven home by catcher Gracie Mello's RBI single. McArthur finished 1-for-3 and provided UCC's only run of the afternoon. Right fielder Bella Garza also had a solid day at the plate, going 1-for-1 with two walks.
Pitcher Kasey Ogan battled through four innings for the Riverhawks but was overwhelmed by Lower Columbia's relentless offense, surrendering 14 hits in the loss. The Red Devils added four more runs in the fourth inning to put the game well out of reach.
The loss drops UCC to 6-19 overall as the Riverhawks continue navigating a challenging conference schedule. With several games remaining, UCC will look to regroup and find offensive consistency as they work to close out the season on a positive note.
