Six runs in the sixth inning transformed a 7-6 deficit into a commanding lead as the Riverhawks stunned Clark 12-11 in a wild conference softball battle at home Wednesday.
Trailing for most of the game, UCC found their magic in that pivotal sixth frame. The explosive rally was fueled by clutch hitting throughout the lineup, turning what looked like another tough loss into a dramatic victory that improved the Riverhawks to 4-8 overall.
Savannah Crawford led the offensive charge with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, driving in two runs and setting the table all afternoon. Bella Garza provided the power punch with three RBIs on three hits, while London O'Brien delivered the biggest blow with four RBIs despite managing just one hit.
The game featured lead changes and momentum swings throughout. Clark scratched across three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to make things interesting, with Jessica Tomberlin drawing four walks and scoring three runs to keep the pressure on.
Cambria Bachmeier earned the pitching victory for UCC, working 5.2 innings before giving way to Kasey Ogan, who secured the final four outs despite allowing three seventh-inning runs.
