Ella Martinez-Bryson delivered a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate, but it wasn't enough as the UCC Riverhawks softball team suffered a 21-3 conference loss at Mt Hood on Sunday.

The Riverhawks' catcher provided the lone bright spot offensively in an otherwise difficult afternoon. Martinez-Bryson collected three hits in three at-bats, showcasing her consistency despite the challenging circumstances.

UCC managed to keep pace early, with the game scoreless through the first inning. However, Mt Hood broke through with seven runs in the second and six more in the third to take control. The Riverhawks answered with three runs in the fourth inning, getting RBI contributions from Gracie Mello, Rylie Miller, and Savannah Crawford. Camden Kappa and Natalie Hudson also crossed the plate during the rally.

Mt Hood's offensive explosion was led by Serena Hattori and Sadie Guyette, who each went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs. The Saints added eight more runs in the fourth and capped the scoring with additional runs in the fifth.

On the mound, the Riverhawks used three pitchers as they searched for answers. Cambria Bachmeier provided the most stability with two innings of work and two strikeouts.

The loss moves UCC to 4-4 overall as they continue conference play. The Riverhawks will look to regroup and get back on track in their next outing as they aim to build momentum in the competitive conference race.
