UCC Riverhawks Mens Basketball 72-74 Centralia %
Centralia's Luke Brewer delivered a masterful 32-point performance, shooting 13-of-26 from the field to lift the hosts past UCC's men's basketball team 74-72 in a thrilling non-conference battle on Thursday night.
The Riverhawks (20-3) received strong offensive contributions from Jack Anderton, who poured in 18 points on efficient 7-of-13 shooting while connecting on three triples. Mikey Lloyd added 15 points and four assists, while Caden Hunter chipped in 13 points off the bench on 6-of-10 shooting.
Despite the balanced scoring attack, UCC couldn't contain Brewer's explosive night. The Centralia senior knocked down all three of his three-point attempts and added three rebounds, two steals and a block in 37 minutes. Ahren Bee-Richards provided solid support with 12 points, while Maximus Holliman contributed 10 points and three steals.
The game remained competitive throughout, with Centralia holding a narrow 36-33 halftime advantage before outscoring the Riverhawks 38-39 in the second half. UCC's offensive execution kept them within striking distance, but timely baskets from the hosts proved decisive.
Brayden Whitehead made his presence felt in limited minutes with eight points on perfect 4-of-5 shooting and three blocks, while Jackson McKee added 10 points and three assists.
The loss snaps what had been an impressive season for the Riverhawks, who will look to bounce back as they continue their campaign with championship aspirations still firmly intact.
