The scoreboard told the story of a high-octane shootout Tuesday night as UCC's men's basketball team survived a back-and-forth battle at Clackamas, escaping with a 96-83 victory that had both teams trading baskets like prizefighters exchanging blows.

The Riverhawks found their offensive rhythm early and never let up, matching Clackamas shot-for-shot in what became a fast-paced affair that saw both squads eclipse 80 points. UCC's balanced attack proved to be the difference-maker, as the visitors managed to pull away in the final minutes despite playing in a hostile road environment.

The victory improves the Riverhawks to an impressive 26-6 overall record, a mark that continues to validate their strong season-long performance. Playing away from friendly confines in Roseburg, UCC showed the kind of composure and execution that championship-caliber teams display when games turn into offensive showcases.

Clackamas refused to fold, keeping pace with the Riverhawks for much of the contest and making UCC earn every possession down the stretch. The 83 points allowed represents a season-high for the UCC defense, but the offensive explosion more than compensated for the defensive lapses.

With non-conference play winding down, the Riverhawks will look to carry this offensive momentum into the heart of their conference schedule, where games figure to be decided by increasingly smaller margins as the postseason approaches.
