UCC Riverhawks Mens Basketball 86-68 Lane
The UCC Riverhawks (20-4) suffered their fourth loss of the season in a hard-fought 86-68 overtime defeat to Lane Community College on Tuesday night in Douglas County.
After trailing 40-37 at halftime, the Riverhawks mounted a second-half comeback to force overtime, outscoring Lane 31-28 in the second frame. However, Lane pulled away in the extra period to hand UCC a tough conference loss.
Jackson Taylor led the Riverhawks' offensive attack with 19 points, connecting on 5-of-12 three-point attempts in just 12 minutes of action. Jackson McKee provided a strong inside presence with 16 points on an efficient 8-of-13 shooting performance, while Jack Anderton contributed 13 points and a team-high 5 assists in 36 minutes of floor time.
Mikey Lloyd orchestrated the offense effectively with 12 points and 7 assists, while Caden Hunter added 12 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Brayden Whitehead anchored the defense with 6 points and 3 blocks.
Lane was paced by Lenny Liyong's game-high 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting, with Tru Young adding 12 points in the victory.
The loss snaps what had been an impressive season for the Riverhawks, who entered the contest with just three defeats. The team will look to bounce back in their next conference matchup as they continue their pursuit of postseason positioning.
