UCC Riverhawks Mens Basketball 76-83 Portland
Mikey Lloyd's game-high 24 points weren't enough to prevent the Riverhawks from suffering their third loss of the season, falling 83-76 to Portland on the road in conference action Tuesday night. The defeat drops UCC's men's basketball record to 20-3 overall.
Lloyd shot an efficient 12-of-20 from the field while adding three rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes. Jackson Taylor provided strong support with 14 points on 4-of-9 three-point shooting, while Nick Nally contributed 10 points and four steals off the bench.
The Riverhawks held a commanding 43-20 halftime lead but were outscored 63-33 in the second half as Portland mounted a furious comeback. Jack Anderton struggled offensively, managing just five points on 1-of-13 shooting, though he dished out seven assists to keep UCC's offense moving.
Portland's Luke Jessup led the rally with 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting, while Jackson Leach added 24 points and 10 assists despite committing seven turnovers. The duo combined to shoot 14-of-14 from the free-throw line in the second half.
Despite the loss, the Riverhawks remain in strong position with their 20-3 record. The team will look to bounce back and get back on track when they return home for their next conference matchup.
